Erosion Barriers

Erosion can cause devastating damage to landscapes, infrastructure, and ecosystems. TrapBag® erosion control solutions are a long-lasting, cost-effective option to prevent soil loss and protect your investments.

TrapBag® for Erosion Barriers

TrapBag® barriers are an advanced alternative to traditional erosion control products. Designed with durability and efficiency in mind, they unfold into a high-tensile wall that stabilizes soil, mitigates erosion, and withstands harsh environmental conditions. Their patented cellular design allows for rapid installation without compromising on their strength.

TrapBag® barriers come in 50-ft sections that are folded for packaging. If you need more protection than 50 feet, simply connect multiple sections.

Our erosion barriers come with lids, which you can install with hog rings and a hog ring gun to prevent the fill material from escaping during wave action. This allows them to continue working for years to come with minimal amounts of damage.

Why Use TrapBag®?

  • They’re engineered to withstand extreme weather and hydraulic pressure.
  • They require fewer materials and labor compared to traditional erosion control materials.
  • They can be quickly installed in urgent situations, even by small teams.
  • They’re suitable for a wide range of applications, including coastal shorelines, riverbanks, and infrastructure protection.
  • They help preserve natural landscapes with minimal disruption.

How to Deploy TrapBag® Barriers

Deploying TrapBag® barriers is a straightforward process. Each 50-ft section is prefabricated and arrives ready to be installed wherever you need it.

  • Site preparation: Clear and level the area where the barrier will be placed.

  • Deployment: Expand and position the interconnected TrapBag® units along the erosion-prone area.

  • Filling: A small crew with a front-end loader, skid steer, or other appropriate equipment can quickly fill the barrier. We recommend using sand or gravel.

  • Stacking: If a higher barrier is required, you can stack TrapBag® and repeat the process.

Who Our Erosion Barriers Serve

TrapBag® erosion barriers are trusted by professionals in a wide variety of industries, including:

Coastal Engineering

TrapBag® barriers provide a reinforced shoreline defense against rising tides, storm surges, and coastal degradation, to prevent land loss and property damage.

How TrapBag® Compares to:

While silt fencing helps with sediment control, it isn’t built for lasting erosion protection. TrapBag®, made from durable polypropylene geotextile fabric, provides a stronger, more dependable solution for large-scale erosion control projects.

vegetation barrier

When it comes to erosion control, traditional sandbags might come to mind—but they require extensive labor and break down over time. TrapBag® offers a modern, more efficient alternative. Designed for quick deployment, greater durability, and superior structural integrity, TrapBag® not only lasts longer but actually strengthens when exposed to sunlight, making it a smarter, long-term solution.

Riprap rock has long been used for erosion control, but recent storms have proven its limitations—strong winds and waves can easily displace it, sending heavy rocks wherever Mother Nature decides. Not only is riprap vulnerable in extreme weather, but it’s also expensive and requires large equipment for installation. TrapBag® offers a smarter solution, delivering the same erosion control benefits with a more flexible, cost-effective design. Easily filled and deployed, TrapBag® requires nothing larger than a front-end loader, making installation faster, more efficient, and more reliable in the face of nature’s forces.
