Urban Flooding in Bangkok & Pattaya City
Bangkok, Pattaya City, and other cities on Thailand’s gulf coast are at risk of increasingly severe flooding during the monsoon season and throughout the year. Tropical storms can also cause devastation in low-lying areas.
Beach Erosion on the Andaman Coast
Thousands of people living along the Andaman Coast rely on its beaches to bring in their livelihoods through tourism each year.
With rising sea levels causing persistent beach erosion, these jobs are at risk of disappearing along with the shoreline itself.
Devastating Landslides in Upcountry Thailand
Thailand’s upcountry regions are increasingly vulnerable as monsoon rains grow heavier and less predictable. Steep terrain and saturated soils often collapse, destroying homes, farmland, and vital roads. TrapBag® barriers provide a rapid way to stabilize slopes and shield communities from these escalating disasters.

Why Choose TrapBag®?

-
Fast Deployment
A team of two individuals and a third person operating an excavator can complete a 100-foot (approximately 30-metre) TrapBag barrier within one hour. This gives emergency crews precious time to get others or themselves to safety when a flood is coming.
-
Reliable Strength
TrapBag’s geotextile technology holds back tons of water pressure and keeps people and properties safe. Each cell supports its neighbors when you fill it with sand or washed gravel.
-
Efficient Design
Every TrapBag® flood barrier cell has a pentagonal shape that concentrates 60% of its mass in the bottom half. It enables faster, less labor-intensive installation when time is running short and weather conditions are challenging.
-
Tried & Tested
Over 1,000 miles of TrapBag® have been installed worldwide as erosion control and temporary flood protection barriers. Tested by the United States Army Corps of Engineers and relied upon by state and municipal governments worldwide, they are a proven system for protecting neighborhoods and towns from flood disasters.
How TrapBag Compares to:
Sandbags have been a tried-and-true method of repelling floodwaters for thousands of years. However, they have a high margin of error compared to improved systems like TrapBag® and take much longer to complete.

These barriers are designed to be filled with water and divert floodwaters from buildings and infrastructure. However, most water barriers aren’t more than a few feet tall and can’t stand up to wave action.
TrapBag barriers start at 1.2 meters tall and can be stacked on top of each other during major flooding events. Their solid fill design provides stability and resilience in the face of wave action and rapids.

Flood walls and floodgates are frequently used in low-lying or flood-prone areas across Thailand to protect at-risk locations from flood damage. However, they can be costly and challenging to implement on time.
TrapBag® offers a more affordable, flexible alternative for temporary or permanent flood protection.
