Role & Story

Everett “Buzz” Waid invented TrapBag® in 2004 after witnessing the destruction left by Hurricane Charley in Florida. Traditional flood barriers weren’t keeping communities safe, so Buzz set out to design something faster, stronger, and more reliable. By 2010, the first TrapBag® barriers were in production, and within a year more than 24 miles had been installed. Today, over 600 miles of TrapBags® have been deployed worldwide under his leadership.

Expertise

Buzz’s background in engineering and construction laid the foundation for TrapBag®. He continues to drive product innovation, guide customers in choosing the right barrier applications, and foster a work environment where employees thrive. Despite being the inventor and owner, he often jumps into the field to keep operations moving smoothly.

Proudest Accomplishment

The Fargo, ND project remains Buzz’s proudest milestone. It was TrapBag’s first large-scale installation and proved the system’s value when miles of barriers were deployed with the support of the National Guard. That success validated the concept and launched TrapBag® onto the global stage.

What Makes TrapBag® Stand Out

Unlike other barriers, TrapBag® is continuous, rapidly deployable, and can be filled in minutes with minimal manpower. That unmatched speed and efficiency set it apart in the flood and erosion control industry.
