Continued Protection After Hurricane Nicole – Volusia County, FL

Project Information

Date: November 10, 2023

Location: Volusia County, FL

Project Summary

Hurricane Nicole struck Volusia County, Florida in early November 2022. In total, Hurricane Nicole caused over $1 billion in damages. The damages were particularly devastating to the residents of Daytona Beach. At the time, many residents in this area used TrapBags to protect their homes from the storm surges produced from the hurricane.

Now, November 2023, many people in Daytona Beach are still affected by damages caused by Hurricane Nicole. Volusia County has continued to use TrapBags. However, rather than using TrapBags to mitigate damages, they are now using the barrier bags to protect against dune degradation and to mitigate the amount of debris that makes it to the ocean.
