TrapBag® for Permanent Flood Barriers
The TrapBag Fabric Forming System is a practical, affordable way to create a permanent concrete flood wall. Designed to make it easier to construct permanent flood barriers, it is made of heavy-duty fabric that gives shape to cement and lets it form into a durable wall as it cures.
Each Fabric Forming System has stainless steel cables running through the center of the barrier to bind each concrete cell together.
Why Use TrapBag to Make Concrete Flood Barriers?
- All TrapBag products are designed to withstand extreme weather and wave action.
- They require less labor and fewer materials than traditional permanent flood protection systems.
- The Fabric Forming System allows for faster construction than more standard methods.
- You can use them anywhere you would normally install concrete installations, including underwater.
- They’re easy to remove from your new concrete barrier after it is fully cured.
How to Deploy TrapBag Barriers
Just like other types of TrapBag barriers, the Fabric Forming System is designed for easy deployment:
-
Site preparation: Clear the area where the barrier will be placed, including draining any water for submerged or partially submerged structures, then level the area.
-
System deployment: Stretch the barrier out to your desired width.
-
Filling: Using a concrete truck or other mixing and pouring equipment, fill each cell in the barrier.
-
Material removal: After the concrete has finished curing, use a razor knife and a torch to remove the material and burn off any excess. You can also stack other barriers on top of the finished concrete for additional height.

How TrapBags Compare to:
While sandbag walls can be a temporary fix during emergencies, they rarely hold up as long-term barriers. The TrapBag Fabric Forming System is both faster to install and a better permanent option for preventing erosion and acting as a flood barrier.

While they can be ideal as garden retaining walls, wood isn’t ideal for use in water-based retaining wall projects because it tends to deteriorate. This is just as true for freshwater as it is for saltwater because of how the water seeps into the wood fibers over time.
However, building a concrete retaining wall with the Fabric Forming System allows your retaining wall to have the structure it needs and last for decades to come.

Metal retaining walls and flood barriers can work for short-term projects, but much like wood, they’re not ideal for saltwater applications due to corrosion. Creating a concrete barrier with TrapBag’s Fabric Forming System is the most cost-effective solution for coastal protection, both for ease of construction and long-term durability.
